45 years ago today, God graced me to be born into a great family. I have spent much time today reflecting on the reality of living 45 years and all that God has put in my life and taken from my life. I have spent much of the day just thankful. Thankful for all the areas of my life that went good, bad and even the mundane parts.
In this post I want to share with you what influenced me spiritually over the last 45 years. In turn I hope you can reflect on who God has used to bring you to your relationship with him.
1. My Parents. Their godliness and willingness to worship regularly, serve in the church and expect myself and my sister to go set a spiritual foundation for our family.
2. My family. I grew up in a small church and attended with extended family. Their constant support, prayers and love for me led me to Jesus. No doubt in my mind.
3. Preachers who preached the Gospel. I am thankful that I heard the message of the person and work of Jesus Christ consistently and passionately from my Uncle Arthur, my pastor and others who preached at that little church.
4. College Ministry. I had the privilege of being involved with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship in college. The people leading that ministry gave me the first opportunities to lead, speak and proclaim the gospel. I am forever thankful for their influence.
5. Churches that Ministered to Me. The other day I figured out that I have been apart of 5 churches in my life, I have served on staff or an intern at 4 of those 5. Everyplace God has taken me he has placed people in my life who have loved me and befriended me and my family in ways I could only begin to explain. Special people for just the right time.
6. My Wife. enough said!
7. Most importantly, Jesus Christ. I am regularly astounded by his person and work. His sacrifice and love for me is unbelievable! His call on my life to proclaim his name is so humbling. Thank you Lord for your guidance, sacrifice and plan for my life. You have been faithful. May I be faithful in return.
45 years and counting…………….to God be the Glory.
See you in Church!

So thankful that God has used you to make a difference in the lives of so many others. Your willingness to stand on the truth and preach the gospel no matter what is inspiring. I’m privileged to call you friend.
