My Journey

Journey to Christ

I grew up in a home with parents who faithfully served the Lord and faithfully served in the church. The church I grew up valued the preaching of the Gospel and faithful obedience to the Lord. In the summer of 1987, just after graduating High School, God specifically worked in my life and my call to salvation. I understood who Jesus from growing up in church. I had an affinity toward Christianity but not a relationship with Jesus. I struggled over that summer as God continued to speak to me through sermons, interactions and conversations with my parents. I knew that I needed to follow Christ and repent of my sins I just was too prideful to that point. God continued working in my life through the summer and into the fall of that year. I attended a revival service with my mom and my sister on a Friday night in early October and that day I repented of my sin, called out to the Lord for forgiveness and acknowledged His work on the
cross and His resurrection. I called out to him and was saved at the end of that little revival service. My life has never been the same since. I am deeply grateful for a church who valued the Gospel and preached it with consistency and clarity.

Journey to Ministry

In the fall of 1997, God began to work on my heart toward a call to ministry.  Natalie and I had been married for just two years and we were faithfully serving in our church. Myself as a Deacon, and Natalie as a preschool ministry worker.  I began praying about what God had shown me regarding full time ministry and shared that with Natalie and over the next six months God worked that reality out in both of our lives.  I believed that the call to ministry included Natalie and that was the only way God would call us to full time ministry.  We consulted with our pastor and other church leaders as a process of confirming the call God had on our lives.  Once we were sure of the calling we shared that with our families and our church and began the preparation to go to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  We moved to Texas in June of 1999.  During seminary, the call to ministry continued to be confirmed through ministry opportunities, education and affirmation from our Pastor in Texas.  I am honored by the call and the reality of God calling me humbles me daily.  I am thankful and blessed by the opportunity to be in vocational ministry.
